Getting Started

To get started in model rocketry, all you need is a starter set, from Quest or Estes. This comprises of; a launch pad, an 1/8 " launch rod, a launch controller with safety key facility, a rocket, recovery wadding and motors. 

Once you have bought a starter set you can then go and buy the separate rockets of different skill levels. Estes make rockets of 5 different skill levels, RTF (ready to fly), E2X (nearly ready to fly), Level 1 (BETA) (requires some cutting, sanding, gluing etc.), level 2 (EXPLORER) (these require more skill and have through the wall fins, sometimes using D motors.), Level 3 (CHALLENGE) (these kits incorporate cutting, sanding, painting and die cut parts. This skill level includes kits that use Estes "D" engines and multi-staging.)
